The second annual Aurora Health Care Two Rivers 10-Mile Run, three-person relay, and debut of the two-mile Run/Walk is set for next Sunday at Two Rivers High School.
Last year’s inaugural event drew 226 runners, and race organizers hope to see an increase in 2014.
“With all the positive feedback we received and the addition of the two-mile run/walk, our goal is to reach 300 participants in 2014,” said Scott Jansky, race director and physical education teacher at Two Rivers High School, in a press release.
“Our race committee is committed to creating a quality community health and fitness event for all ages and abilities, from beginner to elite. The 10-mile run offers custom overall and age group awards, as well as a $1000.00 prize purse divided amongst top three overall M/F and masters runners. The 10-mile distance also provides a great lead-up race for those planning to participate in a spring/summer marathon or half-marathon,” Jansky said. “The three-person relay offers a great opportunity for friends, family, and/or coworkers to get together and complete the entire 10-mile course as part of a team.”
This year, organizers are adding a two-mile run/walk for those who want to be a part of the event, but would prefer to run or walk a shorter distance. Overall and age group awards will also be awarded in the 2-mile run, and commemorative ribbons will be presented to all 14 and under finishers.
